The United Arab Emirates recognised the independence of Estonia on September 18, 1991. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on March 28, 2006.

H.E. Maria Belovas is the Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to the United Arab Emirates since August 2024. She presented her credentials to H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi on November 27, 2024. She is also accredited to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the State of Qatar. She is Ambassador-designate to the State of Kuwait.

The Embassy of the Republic of Estonia in Abu Dhabi was opened in June, 2019. H.E. Jaan Reinhold was the first resident Ambassador of Estonia to the UAE from 2019 – 2024.

H.E. Amna Mahmoud Fikri, the UAE’s Ambassador to Estonia, presented her credentials to President Alar Karis on June 6, 2024. The Ambassador is residing in Helsinki, Finland.

February 10, 2019, the Dubai office of Enterprise Estonia was inaugurated.

The Estonian-UAE Parliamentary Group in the Riigikogu, currently chaired by Mr. Andres Sutt, was established on April 15, 2019.
